Co-hosts and one of the tournament's most anticipated sides, the USMNT is led by a golden generation of players from Europe's elite clubs. Playing on home soil with massive home crowds across iconic American stadiums, the US will target a deep knockout run and are among the tournament's dark-horse favourites.
🇵🇾Paraguay(CONMEBOL)
Paraguay qualified through CONMEBOL and are a well-organised South American side known for defensive resilience and physical intensity. Los Guaraníes have produced notable World Cup performances in the past, including a quarter-final run in 2010, and they never make things easy for their opponents.
🇦🇺Australia(AFC)
Australia reached the Round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, continuing their growth as an Asian football power. The Socceroos play a direct, physical game with pace in attack and will be looking to progress from Group D in a competitive but winnable group.
🇹🇷Türkiye(UEFA)
Officially known as Türkiye, Turkey's best World Cup result was a third-place finish in 2002. The Crescent-Stars return with a technically gifted squad drawing on a strong domestic league, and they will be motivated to recapture those heights on North American soil.

How Group D Qualification Works
The top two teams from Group D advance directly to the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage. The third-place team is not automatically eliminated — the 8 best third-place finishers from all 12 groups also advance, ranked by points, goal difference, and goals scored. The fourth-place team is eliminated from the tournament.
In the event of a tie on points, FIFA applies the following tiebreakers in order: goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, and head-to-head goals scored. This simulator applies all official FIFA tiebreaker rules automatically as you enter match scores.
