About Group G
Group G features Belgium — one of Europe's most technically gifted sides — against Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand in a group that spans four continents and three FIFA confederations. Belgium will be strong favourites but cannot afford to underestimate any opponent.
Teams in Group G
🇧🇪Belgium(UEFA)
Belgium finished third at the 2018 World Cup and have been one of Europe's most talented sides for over a decade. The Red Devils are entering a transitional period as a new generation takes over, but they still possess world-class quality and will be competitive in Group G.
🇪🇬Egypt(CAF)
Egypt return to the World Cup with a squad featuring some of Africa's top talent from European leagues. The Pharaohs are seven-time African champions and one of the continent's most storied football nations, with a fan base that extends across the Arab world.
🇮🇷Iran(AFC)
Iran are Asia's most frequent World Cup participants, making consistent appearances at the tournament since 1978. Team Melli are defensively well-organised and dangerous on the counter-attack, making them a difficult opponent for any team in the group.
🇳🇿New Zealand(OFC)
New Zealand qualify through the OFC pathway in a rare World Cup appearance for the All Whites. New Zealand bring team spirit, tactical discipline, and the determination that comes from fighting through one of football's most competitive inter-confederation play-offs to earn their place.

How Group G Qualification Works
The top two teams from Group G advance directly to the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage. The third-place team is not automatically eliminated — the 8 best third-place finishers from all 12 groups also advance, ranked by points, goal difference, and goals scored. The fourth-place team is eliminated from the tournament.
In the event of a tie on points, FIFA applies the following tiebreakers in order: goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, and head-to-head goals scored. This simulator applies all official FIFA tiebreaker rules automatically as you enter match scores.
